Even with mostly bad review, I had high hope for this game. Me being Action RPG fan, I really wanted to try and experience what PS3 can do with Action RPG game.

For price I paid for this game, it is not that bad game but this game is far from PS3 game as it can get. This game looked more like PS2 than PS3 game. Bad camera, uninspired graphic, generic story line, and etc. there are simply more bad than good about this game.
I did enjoy using magic and doing combo attack. Action is fast and I did enjoy it for little moment here and there.

Also, I wanted little more RPG in this game. This game is hack n’ slash disguised as Action RPG game. I wanted more stories and more variety.

If I paid $60.00 for this game at PS3 launch, I would be one disappoint and angry PS3 owner by now. However, since I got this at discount price, I am somewhat better-off.
Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-60552411539604210612007-10-24T18:49:00.001-04:002007-10-24T18:50:36.580-04:00World in Conflict PC Review

I just finished playing “World in Conflict” for PC. I haven’t play RTS game since “Lord of the Ring Battle for Middle Earth II” for PC and that is a while ago. Even RTS games are not my favorite genre, I do enjoy from time to time.

World in Conflict looks great with one of best explosion effect I seen RTS games. Those smoke from explosion looked real. I wasn’t running this game at full capacity (Direct X10) but even without all the graphic features turned on this game still manage to impress me.

Control was easy to learn but only thing I did not like was that camera view was little hard control. Panning and zooming was little off. It’s one of thing that a lot of games are still having problem with and this game is no exception.

Also, I thought voice acting was top notch with Alec Baldwin as narrator. Cut scene between the mission showed human side of story in war and made me care about the characters and game story more.

Playing single player campaign (story mode) was little on short side as it took me about 2 weeks. Actual game time was about 10 hours. But I enjoyed every last minute playing this game.

Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-28253543066965561422007-10-23T22:31:00.000-04:002007-10-23T22:38:34.595-04:00The Top 7 WTF EndingSomething interesting I found on Gamesrader.com, just click the title for link.

Very interesting read although I do not agree with some of them.

Just don't get confuse with worse ending.Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-59495082607701447262007-10-18T19:49:00.000-04:002007-10-18T19:54:06.694-04:00Hellgate London PC Demo

“Hellgate” demo is available today and I downloaded as soon as I could.

It’s supposed be one of biggest PC release this year. It’s basically 3D Diablo as developers are former Diablo creators.

It could be THE game for my friend John. Every time I talk to him on the phone, he just can’t stop talking about Hellgate.

Hellgate is important game for PC as it is one of few AAA titles that are exclusive to PC that is not MMORPG.

Upon playing demo for about 1 hour, I can tell this game is going to be huge. I was very interested to see how they could bring Diablo to 3D and looks like they have done it and then some.

It took some time for me to get used to interface but game play is great and graphic is good also. Depend on character type you choose you can play as FPS type or hack n slash action type game. It could be 2 totally different game if you choose to be.

There was small nick-pick such as collision detection not being too solid and small problem with interface but overall it’s very solid game.

I guess I need to have better PC with DX10 to experience full graphic but it does run pretty good on my P4 pc.
Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-44185673150630879972007-10-15T00:33:00.000-04:002007-10-15T00:36:04.862-04:00Children of Mana Nintendo DS reviewAlthough, I did play Secret of Mana for Super Nintendo, it was more than 10 years ago and I don’t remember too much. However, I do remember having fun and was probably the best Action RPG game I played than beside little game called Zelda.

Even I didn’t have chance to play any other Mana games for various reason, when I found the Children of Mana for Nintendo DS on sale, I knew I had to get it.

Playing this game bring me back fond memory of sleepless night. Now I want to track down and play other Mana games for other systems. (Come to think of it, I think I have Sword of Mana for Gameboy Advance somewhere in my collection).

To my surprise, this game was little different from what I expected. Instead of Action RPG, this game was more in par with Diablo, not that there is anything wrong with it. Dungeon crawling game is all fun and good but when it’s not done well, game could get boring and repetitious very fast.

Since you can have up to 4 players with Wi-Fi option, I would figure this game is better play with friend. However, for me that’s not the option. Not because I do not have friend, I don’t have friend who has Nintendo DS.

What I like about the game;

-Graphic is good and game plays well.
-You can go back and play any stage again for more EXP, $$$, and treasures.-Easy to play and get into.
-Gem system, you can find or buy different gems, which give you extra boost, and equip them to give your character extra boost.

Here is what I don’t like about the game;

-There is only limited option to change your equipment and magic during actual game play, you can only change between missions or in town.
-Sometime, game feels repetitious, same dungeons and enemies after one other. It can get tedious after while more of choir to play the game.
-When you swing at enemy with different weapon, such as Hammer, they bounce and crash back to you and it’s very annoying.-Magic is almost worthless.

I am big fan of portable game, it beats reading newspaper or magazine in the restroom, and love Japanese style RPG games. What started as perfect marriage of Mana series, Nintendo DS and Action RPG ended with disappointment. This game ended up being most disappointment game I played this year.

I give this game 5/10 if you are not fan of Mana series than 4/10.
Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-89032984601411313372007-10-13T00:24:00.000-04:002007-10-13T00:26:06.046-04:00Lair PS3 and how it almost cut my arms off
Finally beat the infamous 11th mission “Deadman’s Basin” in PS3 Lair.

It took me a week but I finally done it!

Last mission in this stage, I had to shake the wireless sixaxis controller up and down like maniac for seems like 5 min to destroy the dam. After this mission I couldn’t feel both of my arms.

I do have to say this game’s graphic is incredible and story is well played. But I just wish developers included analog control option. I played PSP version of Untold Legend, I got pretty far, until my save got corrupted and I did not want to play from beginning again.

So Far, I am having little better time than I had with Genji.

Would I pay $60.00 for this game? No no no! I am having decent time playing this game but I am no where pissing pant like when I played Bio Shock demo. That’s the game that is worth $60.00. (only if I had $$$) This game’s graphic is not PS3 worthy.. to me it looks like I am playing B-C rated PC game and I do have pretty low standard compare to other gamers.

As I like my game easy, I choose easiest mode and selected Mage as my character. I read from Gamefaq.com that Mage is easiest character to beat the game with. Usually, I play as Warrior character but I guess I will try some magic.

Anyway, here is my fictional story as Mage in Untold Legend: Dark Kingdom,

My name is TigerHan and I excel in both Dark and Light Magic, sometime I mix little bit of both to create mix special..

Ok anyway, I am a new member of fabled Dragon’s Shade along with Scout(she hot) and Warrior(he dumb). Dragon’s Shade usually does not allow member that does not excel in weapon combat but I prove myself worthy before Commander, along with little bribe ;)

Along with Commander, Warrior and Scout(what does she scout anyway?), and elite soldiers, We were sent to stop the Barbarian Uprising. We soon arrived at small town where those barbarians are invading.
While I am getting used to my new staff, I found out that It shoots fire! Cool, I knew I got a good deal at shady magic shop. As I am killing barbarian left and right without mercy with my fire shooting magic staff, more and more of them attacked me. I finally defeated them I exited the town to chase after more barbarians.

By the way, where the hell is Commander, Scout and Warrior?

Right outside town gate, I found a few of barbarian just hanging around and I summoned my Fire magic to create big fire ball and hurl toward them. Crispy! One shot kill!

I am still going around killing barbarians and sometime they drop armor and stuff which I can use to better myself although I felt kinda dirty using used goods from dead barbarians. (I wonder if these stuffs are clean, after all if they are all clean all the time, they wouldn’t be barbarians)

As the battle’s getting harder, now they are throwing Axe at me and it hurts a lot. I am wondering where the hell Commander, Warrior, and Scout went. If they went ahead of me, I wouldn’t have to fight all these barbarians.. Hmm.. I hope they are not slacking off. Maybe they are testing me? I understand the test aspect. But, I suspect Warrior and Scout have things between them. It must be because she won't answer my phone call or letters.

Oh, there is girl from village getting attacked!
I rush to help her and after I beat the hell of those bastard barbarians, she thanks me by giving me a so called “Rune of Sensing” I tried to get her number but she told me she does not know what the phone is… I suspect she is lying. I think I saw brand new iphone in her skirt pocket.
It’s has to be my face… I know I am only 30 but my face looks of 70… It’s the price I had to pay for studying black magic. I should listen to my mother and stick to white magic….

Getting back to “Rune of Sensing” It show me where the enemies are so there is no surprise ambush. I guess it is good enough and she was ugly anyway. I hope barbarians come and steal her iphone x(

This group picture was taken with Commander's digital camera right after we killed all the Barbarians in the village. Graphic is ok, not too shabby, Story looks interesting.. and this being sequel to one on PS2, kinda make me want to that one also.
Add to that this game is suppose be Sony’s answer to Onimusha series which is one of my favorite video game series. Not too long, not too short and best of all you can jump. Somehow when it comes to FPS, I like to jump.

Story is good enough to believe it can happen, if you believe alien can invade earth during WWII that is. I want to see battle takes place in Russia, US and other country in sequel.

Control was tight, however some time during the game, it will go forward or stop
automatically for couple of second even I am not using controller. It might be the game or just wireless signal messing me around.

Only thing I find annoying was the loading time between the level, large hard drive space and Blueray disc. It PS3!! What is loading time doing in my game?

Great Graphic, Not too easy, not too hard difficulty, tight control, and not too long not too short length, and most of all great fun. It’s not the game that will make me a PS3 believer but it’s best PS3 game I have play so far.Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-87053655197406093032007-08-29T16:10:00.000-04:002007-08-29T16:15:36.395-04:00God of War 2

Upon returning from trip to New York, I really needed exorcise all the stress I got from driving for six hours plus work related stress.

So, I pop in the God of War 2 for Playstatino 2 and I went ape kaka-poo-poo. We all must face reality sometime… sooner or later.

It’s such a hard reality we live in… we sometime create fantasy world to escape all the problems we are having. We indulge ourselves with such distraction that we seldom remember truth, fact and problem that we all must face in real world.

It’s hard, it’s very hard, it could seem like its almost impossible. However, we all must stand up and face what it is that we all must face. As I always tell my friend, “Sometime you must stand and take a shit like a man” I hope I can act on what I preach.

Games

I have been playing “Eragon for XBOX360”. Riding on Dragon was not all I expected. Somehow I like the game more when I am fighting on ground instead or using Dragon. (why do I suck at playing anything that has to do with flying and driving?... I have no sense of direction :-])Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-1153368226160435672006-07-19T23:57:00.000-04:002006-07-20T00:03:46.173-04:00Advance Wars Dual StrikeThis is the 10th game that I have finished this year!

Advance Wars Dual Strike for Nintendo DS.
This game was very very long but tons of fun and was very addicting

Here are some info;

Total Play Time: 33:25
Total # of Turns : 600
Total points earned: 11160

I wished I have enough time to finish other mode beside campaign mode, but I must move on...
or I will be playing this game till... forever!Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-1153336678967721832006-07-19T15:17:00.000-04:002006-07-19T15:26:10.230-04:00R.I.P. This has to be the record!
I have not finished this much games since High School years.

Tomb Raider Legend for XBOX 360.

Playtime: 14:08:29
Complete 97% (didn’t bother to collect a few items at the end, it wasn’t worth it)
Start date: 6/21
End date: 7/3

This game was great. I have played all the previous Tomb Raider games and this one is the only one that I have played till end. Graphic is excellent, game play is smooth, and length was just about right. I just wish ending was little better as it left too many questions unanswered.

FarCry for PC

Start date: 5/30
End date: 7/3

I tried to get into the game before and somehow I couldn’t get past the first stage. I have finally decided to hold my ground and play this game. Graphic still looks great and game play is excellent also. Game was little too long as some of latter level felt like it was just dragging on and on. Let down ending did not help either. Also another nick-pick was the character looked as he was either short or he was crouching down all the time. It just felt like character I was playing was too close to ground… Maybe it’s just me? Anyway, I did enjoy the game and I do give very high point for different path you can take and freedom you have in this game.Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-1151602166101633102006-06-29T13:28:00.000-04:002006-06-29T13:29:26.120-04:003 more games that I have finishedI have finished more games than I could imagine.

First, I have completed “Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II” for PC. I liked it better than first one (which I only played and beat the good side campaign). Graphic were outstanding and game was not too long nor not too short.

As for second, I have beaten “X-Men: The Official Game” for XBOX360. Believe it or not, this is my first XBO360 game I have finished. I wanted to find out what happen to X-Men during the time between 2nd and 3rd X-Men movie. This game explains why Nightcrawler is not in the 3rd movie and also the origin of Sentinel project. While game play and graphic is not the greatest on XBOX360, I did enjoy controlling Wolverine and Nightcrawler. However, playing as Iceman was kinda hard for me. Overall, I thought it was good and short but left little sour taste.

For last, I have just finished playing “Sin Episode 1: Emergence” for PC.
Graphic was great as it was using Half-Life 2 Source engine but somehow it wasn’t looking great as Half-Life 2. Maybe I got used to the graphic engine and there is no more brand new engine “wow” factor? Anyway, original Sin was one of games that I have actually finished, I even got the expansion pack and finished that too, and I thought it was very underrated and undersold as it was released about the same time as Half-Life 1. I always thought it deserved better and wished developer would make a sequel. Now my wish has come true…well… kind of. This game was only episode 1 of many episodes to come and this was more of introduction than anything else. Only 3 weapons that you could use and there wasn’t too much exciting thing going on. Even end boss was kind of let down. However, I did enjoy somewhat and looking at the episode 2 trailer, it looks like it’s going to me much better and bigger game.Biggercuphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01492468241873875592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11935566.post-1146673357480793242006-05-03T12:21:00.000-04:002006-05-03T14:04:37.573-04:00Starwars Jedi AcademyFinished another game!!
